Wooden humidor is usually made from cedar in the interior and more seldom with mixture from muple tree and rose bush.
When we buy our humidor we supposed to make certain movements.
we clean it internally with a soft dry material.

we put it in a glass from wedge dyolised water and we put it for 30 seconds in the microwave (until it appears steam). Then we put it with attention into the humidor for a whole night.
we remove the glass and we sweep it by any chance humidity with a piece of sterilizated gauze.
Now, our humidor is ready.
We continue with the humid system. After opening it with attention we will see a green piece from some material that resembles with sponge. In a bowl that hols the sponge we fill up to the middle with a mixture from glycol (special liquid that we find at the shops with cigars) and dyolised water in proportion 50-50 and we put in the sponge leaving it to pull the water for 2-3 thinly.

The best solution is a digital hygrometer that does not need anything and is more precitional.
Only dyolised water because the water of tap and bottling do certainly have micro-organisms that destroy the cigars.
Glass humidor wants daily control.
If it has a lot of humidity for somebody is because we open and leave it until the water evaporates a little.
We do not place metal parts of cigars of perfectly different flavours into the humidor because the cigar has bad organisms that absorb the smells and it will be perplexed by the flavours and the perfumes of cigars.
